Kegel exercises are essential, particularly after childbirth, as many women experience physical challenges during the postpartum period. Unfortunately, many men are not fully aware of the physical and emotional changes a woman undergoes after giving birth.

Relationships often flourish during the early stages of love. Couples communicate more openly, show affection freely, and naturally resolve challenges through emotional bonding. However, pregnancy and the postpartum period can be profoundly demanding. During this time, many women feel isolated, even though it is precisely when they need the greatest support—not only from family members, but especially from an understanding and present husband who recognizes his responsibility within the family unit.

The true test of partnership lies in enduring both the strong and vulnerable seasons of life. The most delicate moments often occur during the prenatal and postnatal stages, when a woman may feel physically, emotionally, and psychologically at her weakest.

When men have not received adequate education or guidance on building and leading a family with compassion and responsibility, they may also struggle during this transition. This lack of preparation can contribute to unhealthy coping mechanisms, including emotional withdrawal, substance abuse, or, in some cases, abandonment of the family. Upbringing and social conditioning play a significant role in how men respond during these challenging periods.

Open communication is therefore essential. When a woman continues to communicate with her husband and includes him in her vulnerabilities during pregnancy and postpartum recovery, it fosters mutual understanding. Together, they can navigate this season with greater unity and resilience.

Through Mbereko Healing Slings and The Art of African Ethnic Carrying Culture, we have guided many families in cultivating open communication within their relationships. We support couples in learning how to embrace vulnerability while maintaining dignity, integrity, and mutual respect.
